Regulation on Safety and Health in Working with Chemical Substances Updated!

The “Regulation Amending the Regulation on Safety and Health in Working with Chemical Substances” was published in the Official Gazette dated October 20, 2023, and numbered 32345, and significant changes were made to the relevant Regulation.

Accordingly, many new substances used by various sectors, such as Ethanol, Sodium Hydroxide, which are used by many industries, have been added to Annex 1 of the Regulation, which specifies Occupational Exposure Limit Values, and the Occupational Exposure Limit Values for 4 substances, such as Acetic Acid and Dichlorobenzene, have been updated. Annex 4 of the Regulation (Safety Distances for Liquid Oxygen, Liquid Argon, and Liquid Nitrogen Storage Tanks) has been repealed.

If a substance used is listed in Annex 1 of the Regulation and/or is present in a mixture even if it does not meet the criteria for classification as hazardous, a Safety Data Sheet may need to be provided to suppliers.

Furthermore, if there is a substance for which the Occupational Exposure Limit Value has been changed, the information in Section 8 – Exposure Controls/Personal Protection of the Safety Data Sheet must be updated.
